NAQDA has launched a project on sea bass cage culture in Negombo lagoon. This project directly helps lagoon fishing communities to generate their own income as an alternative livelihood activity. This will help to reduce the fishing pressure in the Negombo lagoon and also to improve the living standards of the people who depend on coastal resources.
10 fisher families were selected of which each family was provided with 2 floating net cages and 4,000 sea bass fingerlings were stocked in 20 cages and the harvest will be done after 8 months. |
